"M! Countdown" To Undergo Change In Show Format

Mnet music show "M! Countdown" will under a change in the show's format to allow more audience participation.

Mnet's music show "M! Countdown" will be undergoing a format revamp to make allow more audience participation on the show.

Mnet said on February 20, "Starting this February 27, there will be change in 'M! Countdown's' format. There will be different way of presenting the music rankings and how the MCs will run the show. We will also allow a larger participation from the audience to make the show more appealing to the public."

Fans will now have bigger role in determining the show's winners. Beginning on February 27, online music scores will now amount to 50%, album sales 10%, social media points (YouTube views and SNS popularity) 10%, preference scores (global vote and age range preference) 10%, broadcast scores 10%, and live voting 10%. Now that the criteria for judging has become more diversified, fans will be able to see a wider array of music on the show.

Camera producer Yoon Shin Hye explained, "Through this new method, we hope that we will be able to broadcast a program that can offer a more diverse music chart."

Furthermore, "M! Countdown" will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
