People Responsible for Spreading Song Hye Kyo Rumours Are Fined 1 Million KRW!

Irresponsible netizens who have spread rumours about actress Song Hye Kyo is now going to pay 1 million KRW

People who ae responsible for spreading false accusations about Song Hye Kyo needs to pay one million KRW (approximately $900) in damages.

A representative of Song Hye Kyo's agency told media outlet Starin on April 3, "It has been confirmed that the court has issued a fine to the netizens who spread false accusations on the internet... We are aware that the netizens received a fine of one million KRW and we should receive the notice containing the specific content through the legal representative to know the exact details."

They added, "It is also significant that the court ruled in favor of Song Hye Kyo receiving damage due to the false accusations... We will take action against the spreading of the false accusations."

Song Hye Kyo filed charges against 40 netizens who have been spreading false rumours about the actress from 2008-2011. The prosecution summarily indicted 24 of them who were mainly employees in their 20s-30s, three of them needed to pay a fine of one million KRW, and the rest had to pay a fine of 700,000 KRW (approximately $600) and 500,000 KRW (approximately $450).
