G.Na Found To Be Severely Underweight, Diagnosed With Jaw Disorder

Other than being severely underweight, it was also found out that G.Na as developed a disorder affecting her jaw.

In the latest episode of KBS 2TV's "Vitamin", the show's resident experts and hosts talked about a condition called temporomandibular disorders (TMD). The show's guests went under various tests to see if their jaws are healthy or if they manifest symptoms of the said disorder. It was found out the female soloist G.NA has a severe case of TMD.

G.Na, known for her slender figure, previously appeared on the show where she was warned of being severely underweight for her age. In the latest episode, G.Na doubts about her health condition and problems she was having with her teeth have finally been addressed following her being diagnosed with severe TMD.

G.Na said, "I'm currently undergoing treatment at a dentist for my teeth, but I didn't imagine that I would have a serious a problem as TMD." The singer showed nervousness and worry after seeing the results of the tests.

Professor Jeon Yang Hyeon of Kyunghee University Dental Hospital, Department of Oral Medicine explained G.Na's condition, saying, "In G.Na's case, her molars on both sides are not good and she cannot chew food properly. Because of this, her jaw abnormality applies force and shows an unstable positioning. It is important that she practices chewing on both sides, and undergo combined treatment for her overbite and teeth in the earliest possible time."

According to an online medical website, temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a result of various problems with the jaw, jaw joint, and surrounding facial muscles that function in controlling chewing and movement of the jaw.

The K-pop industry is highly critical of body image, and G.Na is not the first celebrity to have shocked fans about her/his weight. Mostly female celebrities have received scrutiny for looking too skinny and somewhat severely underweight.

On this episode of "Vitamin", G.Na also appeared along guests including Lee Hye Jeong, Seo Kwon Soon, Kim Saeng Min, Lim Hyuk Pil, Hong Dae Gwang, and Nana and Lizzy of Orange Caramel.
