"Age of Feeling" Actors Still Unpaid, Now Resorting to Legal Actions to Resolve Case

KBS 2TV's "Age of Feeling" is now at the center of controversy as new reports suggest that some of the show's actors and staff members still have not received their salaries.

In a previous report, a representative of the drama production team clarified that the issue on unpaid wages has been sorted out. However, as it turns out the solution was only temporary. On May 14, a representative of an actor came out to comment, "Even though the drama has concluded, we haven't received the payment yet. Apart from what we received in the beginning, the rest of the appearances fees have not been settled."

"The production company seems to be having problems with its finances, so we doubt we will be receiving any monetary compensation even if we resort to legal action. It's simply frustrating that there seems to be no way around this, that it can't be solved. We are preparing the right countermeasures together with other actors who have not received their payments as well," the rep said.

Another source also mentioned, "Luckily, the actor [we managed] is a member of the Korea Broadcasting Actors Union, and the organization is doing its best to help solve the case. However, the full payment still has not been made, thus the situation is far from being resolved."

Last month, the production company in charge of "Age of Feeling" promised to settle all unpaid salaries by May 15. However, seeing that it's already the fifteenth of May and  no motion to settle has been made yet, actors are seeking legal actions against the company, although it remains unclear which measures and provisions would yield efficient and agreeable results.

"Age of Feeling" is reportedly one of the most expensive drama series of recent. The drama series takes place in 1930's Shanghai and it was reported that the production team reconstructed an entire city from scratch to make the depiction of old Shanghai realistic. In relation to the company's current lack of financial resources, the large amount of money allotted to the production itself seems to have contributed to the actors' current troubles on getting their salaries.
