"Good Doctor" In Talks To Be Picked Up For American TV Adaptation

In October last year, viewers swooned over and felt for the Dr. Park Shi On in the KBS Monday-Tuesday drama series "Good Doctor". The autistic yet brilliant Dr. Park Shi On, played by actor Joo Won, spiked the interest and affection of many viewers. Fans of the show can soon relive the drama as it has been picked up for an American TV series adaptation.

Reports say that "Good Doctor" is in the talks to be re-made into an American TV series produced by CBS, the same production company that brought us "CSI", "The Mentalist", "How I Met Your Mother", and more.

Although CBS and KBS are still in negotiations, the partial announcement was made by a rep from KBS Drama Department through a statement with MBN Star on May 22. The rep said, "The format sale of the drama 'Good Doctor' is really being discussed now by our executives and CBS in the US. It is still in the process and there are no final decisions yet. The drama has been released and shown in various foreign markets, and we believe this is why they have also shown some interests. However, it is not just selling the rights we are working on. It is of course, necessary for us to see how people will respond to the pilot episode of the US version. The process will certainly take more time."

KBS' "Good Doctor" debuted with strong ratings for its first two episodes. It exceed the 20% viewer rating mark starting its 16^th episode. The unique storyline of "Good Doctor", which shows a person diagnosed with autism exceptionally fulfil the tasks of pediatric surgery resident, snagged a lot of people's attention and thus making a huge buzz. Joo Won's stellar portrayal of Dr. Park Shi On also earned him praises from viewers and acting colleagues.
