Because of the strike by two labour unions against broadcast channel KBS, upcoming television programming for the channel is now undetermine.

The strike started today after the KBS board have failed to decide on whether to vote on a proposal to oust their current company president, Gil Hwan Young. The meeting concluded with a decision to meet again on June 5 to review on the situation once more, and the labour unions then threatened to go on strike.

Gil Hwan Young has been reported to succumb a presidential office pressure to produce news which is favourable to the current government. These allegations against Gil Hwan Young garnered more attention over KBS’s coverage of last month’s Sewol ferry tragedy.

The strike has put the programming of KBS’ popular weekend drama “Wonderful Days” (starring Kim Hee Sun, Lee Seo Jin, and Taecyeon) in hiatus. Recording for the drama has stopped, and though filming is scheduled up again this coming Monday, things remain open. Though recording has stopped, the upcoming Saturday and Sunday broadcast of the drama will air as scheduled as those episodes have been filmed already.

Having the labour unions, which includes reporters and producers, many KBS news programs will have some changes in anchors or simply an absence of a host. Drama and other show producers have also taken part in the strike, unless an agreement is reached soon.
