International sensation PSY, who recently dropped his music video "Hangover", confessed that he will no longer be able to equal or surpassed the supernova success "Gangnam Style" was able to achieve.
In a recent interview with Billboard, the 36 year old singer said, "I will never be able to surpass the popularity of ['Gangnam Style']. How do you surpass a song that has been viewed two billion times?" He added, "That is why I decided to go for something fresh this time around."
PSY shared the inspiration for his new track, "One day, I was writing lyrics for a hip hop track when on word popped into my mind. I was drunk [at the time] and I thought of the word 'hangover.'" PSY said, "I immediately recorded it, and the chorus made me think of Snoop Dogg, because I know he has this tendencies to get intoxicated every day."
"I gave Snoop Dogg a call and asked him to feature on the track. When he asked me what the title [of the song] is, I answered, 'Hangover'. He said, 'I'm drunk right now.' That's how we ended up getting together," PSY narrated.
He also said that he himself is a heavy drinker, "I am a heavy drinker. Honestly, I am drunk for around six months every year."
PSY returned with his new track "Hangover" on June 8. He debuted the music video on "Jimmy Kimmel Live", and "Hangover" MV has received over 30 million views on YouTube. The music video was a long time coming as PSY and Snoop Dogg began filming the video around January this year.
