SM Entertainment to Tolerate Thai EXO Cover Boys, Millenium Boy!

It was just recently when SM Entertainment planned to take legal action on the boys As previously reported, Millenium Boy also nicknamed 'EXO-T' by their fans have been in a hot seat as they encounter criticism and plagiarism.

As previously reported, Millenium Boy also nicknamed 'EXO-T' by their fans have been in a hot seat as they encounter criticism and plagiarism. Though the boys began as a simple cover group, they later learned that they have been under fire for profiting off of EXO's name and logos or designs by selling merchandise and also holding events and TV appearances.

EXO's agency, SM Entertainment had stated that they would be taking this incident to legal action against the group, however recent statements have shown that the agency has decided tolerate the cover group.

SM Entertainment representative told Kuki News, "It is illegal to use the name, choreography, logo, and such that are the intellectual property of SM Entertainment without permission... We did not take any legal action in the past towards contents of non-commercial use with the advancement of the internet and media. However, we will take action against the activities that are used for commercial (profit) purposes... Millenium Boy have explained to us that their promotions are not for commercial purposes, and they also promised not to use EXO's contents from now on. So for now, we have just wrapped this up as a simple happening."

Though it seems that SM will be letting go of the incident for now, they stated that they will not close their doors to the activities of the Millenium Boy.

Millenium Boy has been gaining popularity in Thailand as well in Indonesia, getting a fan club count of 90,000. The boys have also been noticed to look like who they 'cover' the EXO members, even displaying the same hairstyles, outfits, and picture poses.

But it seems, they also have gained criticism for using EXO's name and designs to promote themselves, and they have been getting bashed by EXO fans, who felt that the Millenium Boy members were downplaying the EXO members through their various Instagram or Twitter posts.
