Key Pulled Out of "Bonnie & Clyde", Rumours Say it Might Be Due to his "Acting Skills"

Key's participation on the musical adaptation of "Bonnie & Clyde", which was initially scheduled on October 10, has been cancelled due to SHINee's comeback performance on the same date.

A representative for the "Bonnie & Clyde" productions told news outlet MBN Stars that, "Due to his pre-recording for SHINee's comeback, we decided to cancel the musical performance. We gave a refund to the audience member who wanted it and the cancelled performance has been pushed to October 25."

The representative further explained that while Hyungsik, Han Ji Sang, and Um Ki Joon play the same role as Key, it was impossible to switch cast members because the schedules have already been fixed. He also said that finding a replacement for Key on his date of performance can't be an option since most of the tickets for that day was bought by Key's fans.

Aside from the overlapping schedule, there has been many speculations about the real reason Key had to leave the show. Some rumours popped out saying that Key's absences in rehearsals and doubts in his acting skills may be one of the reasons his participation in "Bonnie & Clyde" didn't push through.

Furthermore, this issue is said to make a huge impact on the whole production's credibility, as they've been previously criticized for thoughtlessly casting famous people for marketing purposes.

A musical representative said that there havee been several cases of one or two people needing to switch schedules as there are 20 cast members who are part of the official ensemble. However, cancelling an entire day of performance hardly ever happens. "I think there was a mediation problem between the agency and the production crew," the source said.

In Key's situation, experts on musicals cannot explain such postponement since the production crew and the actors have already agreed on scheduling beforehand and they would've already seen SHINee's comeback coming. Therefore they could've placed Key on a schedule that would not be affected by his activities with the group.

On SM Entertainment's website, they wrote a message on Key's behalf: "We sincerely apologize for unintentionally having caused an inconvenience. We ask for your generous understanding for the sake of SHINee's vigorous activities."

Despite this sad announcement, fans can still see Key, together with the rest of SHINee, for their comeback performance at M! Countdown this October 10.
