EXO Sasaeng Fan Arrested For Scamming People Online to Fund Her Stalking Activities

Who knew being a sasaeng fan could be such an expensive lifestyle. Ooops! Another sasaeng fan wreaked havoc and got arrested by the police! A 21-year-old EXO sasaeng fan was arrested for committing fraud and embezzlement in order to pay for the expenses she incurred while following the activities of the said boy band.

Ooops! Another sasaeng fan wreaked havoc and got arrested by the police! A 21-year-old EXO sasaeng fan was arrested for committing fraud and embezzlement in order to pay for the expenses she incurred while following the activities of the said boy band. The fan, identified as Ms. Nam, was intercepted by the Gyeonggi Police on September 5.

According to reports, Ms. Nam defrauded people online by making deals with them. Particularly, she would rent a camera from a store, upload pictures of it on an online selling website, and sell the equipment at a discounted price. Once she receives the payment, Ms. Nam would not deliver the purchased product to the customer. The report also mentions that this scam has happened 9 times, and through this activity Ms. Nam has acquired 470,000 KRW (approximately $458 USD).

People were lured into buying the item because of its marked-down price. What's more, she advertises the item as a package complete with notebook and lens. Said camera would retail up to 1,100,000 won so her price would come as a complete bargain to unaware buyers. Moreover, Ms. Nam did not return the camera to the rental store.

Ms. Nam is a high school graduate without employment. The sad part is, she is self-supporting since she already lost her parents. She also shared that instead of going home at night, she would stay at a café near EXO's dormitory in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the male idol group.

Ms. Nam admitted that she now regrets doing something that once made her very happy.

The sasaeng fan admitted that she uses the fund to follow EXO around. This crazy and obsessive activity is considered unhealthily expensive since it would require high-quality equipment to take photos of celebrities as well as travelling allowances to pay for taxi fares when chasing the idol group. Many celebrities have complained about this behavior in fans because it disrupts their privacy since sasaeng fans stalk celebrities day and night and wherever they may be.
