Sunhwa Talks About Playing Lead Role For the First Time in "Rosy Lovers"

Sunhwa shared her excitement and worries about playing the female lead role for the first time at the press conference for her upcoming drama series "Rosy Lovers". At the conference, held on October 13 at the MBC Golden Mouth Hall, Sunhwa showed a comparison between her and other acting-idols such as f(x)'s Krystal and Girls' Generation's Sooyoung, both of whom are currently starring in their own respective drama series.

The SECRET member shared that she feels honestly burdened by the thought of her playing the lead role for the first time. "I had a lot of studying to do, perhaps because when I first went through the script, most of the parts involved the female lead," Sunhwa said. She added that she was worried going to the set for the first time, saying there were instances she couldn't get a hang of things at first. "After getting advice from Jang Woo, I gradually started to get the feel of the drama," she added.

Krystal and Sooyoung are currently appearing as lead characters in "My Lovely Girl" and "My Spring Day" respectively. Sunhwa said that thinking about them and other idols playing lead roles in dramas provided her with relief. Moreover, it put her in more ease as she found out that her first lead character has a personality similar to hers.

"Jang Mi is quite similar to how I am. Two or three years ago I really shared a similar side with Jang Mi. Because of that, it became easier for me to get into Jang Mi's shoes," Sunhwa said. As to how she differs from idol-actors, Sunhwa said that she will give her acting more appeal by showing a kind of charm unique to her.

"Rosy Lovers" will premiere on October 18 on MBC. It will star Sunhwa, Lee Jang-Woo, Han Ji-Sang, and more.
