Big Bang member and "The Alumni" leading man T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun) has recently finished a photo shoot with W Korea magazine
The stunning new visuals, which were first revealed by YG Entertainment, feature a very emotive T.O.P. in black and white stills.
In the photos, T.O.P channels Lee Myung Hoon, the character he portrays in his upcoming movie "The Alumni", with the look of struggles in youth and a depth of sadness and mystery.
In the accompanying interview for this issue of W Korea, T.O.P explained why he chose "The Alumni" as his comeback ticket to the world of film.
"[I chose 'The Alumni' because of] the character and the type of the movie. I was drawn to the character because it seemed like I could really just act him out."
He also shared his inspiration when it comes to acting and the direction he plans to take it to. "I really liked Robert de Niro's acting in the move 'Taxi Driver'. Rather than big direct expressions, his acting was distinct and sensitive and I really liked that. Thus, I also tried to change so that I could show a more restrained acting rather than excessive acting."
On October 5, T.O.P attended the Busan International Film Festival together with his "The Alumni" co-star Kim Yoo Jung. At the event, T.O.P became the first Korean actor to receive an award at the Asia Star Awards. He took home the Rookie Award, recognizing his exceptional work as an actor.
"The Alumni" will be shown in Korea on November 6, and will also be released in the USA and several parts of Europe on later dates.
