On Oct 18, a representative from tvN announced that "SNL Korea" will have a special event to commemorate the original show's 40th season. "NBC, which is currently broadcasting America's 'SNL' proposed to have a special event with 'SNL Korea' for its 40th anniversary.... The 'SNL' American production crew and the 'SNL Korea' production crew are currently planning the 40th anniversary featured program."
The representative also revealed that, "They plan to share the host position, keeping in mind a 'World Star' whom both the American and Korea audience would know. As there is still a lot of time, they have not yet cast the host. If they decided to exchange the crew, then Shin Dong Yup and the other fixed members are planning to go to America while Fred Armisen and the other widely popular American cast members are planning to come to Korea."
The exchange in setting would be a nice treat to fans, but as this special collaborative episode isn't due until September next year, the crew from both production teams still have more time to plan things out.
Fred Armisen, Tina Fey, Kenan Thompson and the rest of the hilarious gang on their way to Korea in a bit of change up? Now that's exciting!
