PSY and Girls' Generation Battle It Out With International Artists at the First Ever YouTube Music Awards

PSY and Girls' Generation become the first Korean artists nominated for the first YouTube Music Awards

Girls' Generation and PSY are just two of the three Korean artists pitted against international heavy weights in the first ever "YouTube Music Awards".

The 9-member girl group under SM Entertainment was nominated for "Video of the Year" for "I Got A Boy". The girls will be contending against 9 other nominees including Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and One Direction.

PSY, on the other hand, bagged 3 nominations. He was nominated for the prestigious "Artist of the Year" award in which he will be competing against Eminem, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry One Direction, Nicki Minaj, and others; "YouTube Phenomenon" award for "Gangnam Style", and also for "Video of the Year" for "Gentleman", in which he will be put up against fellow Korean act Girls Generation.

Korean acoustic siblings Jayesslee was nominated for the category "Response of the Year" for their fan-made cover video for PSY's "Gangnam Style" Jayesslee is formed by twins Janice and Sonia Lee who are Koreans born and raised in Sydney, Australia.

The award ceremony will be held on November 3 in New York and will be hosted by Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts. Artist that have been confirmed to perform at the event are Eminem, Arcade Fire, and Lady Gaga.
