Despite the success she's achieved through singing and acting, a humble IU expressed her worries and insecurities in her performance during the press conference for the upcoming KBS 2TV drama "The Producer".
IU was asked how she feels being the lone singer in a cast packed with top actors which includes Gong Hyo Jin, Kim Soo Hyun, and Cha Tae Hyun. "I felt guilty and left out at the same time. They're all actors while I started out as a singer [who later transitioned into acting], so I felt intimidated by them. Although no one is treating me badly, I still feel as I'm by myself for no particular reason," IU said.
Despite being intimidated by the cast, IU said she wanted to dive into the project immediately after she received the offer for the role of Cindy. "When I heard about the casting line-up, I wanted to shove my spoon in there," IU said, indicating that she felt honored to have been part of such a star-studded production.
IU's role, Cindy, is described as the "Ice Princess". She's a young idol at the top of her game. Since she basically grew up in the entertainment industry (Cindy debuted when she was just 13 years old), Cindy already knows well to be careful when it comes to handling interpersonal relationships in the industry. Although IU is known to be very sweet and adorable in real life, she shared that she identifies with her character Cindy in that they both have the same manner of venting out their frustrations on their managers. IU said, "[Cindy and I are alike] when it comes to letting out steam on our managers. Even when I was reading lines with my manager, he said [my character] gave him goosebumps. Everyone can be irritable and have their own frustrations. There are times [when I read the script] I think to myself, 'Ah, that's me!'"
Can you imagine the ever sweet IU play the overbearing Ice Princess?
