This week, actress Hwang Jung Eum and SG Wannabe's Kim Yong Joon were confirmed to have ended their 9-year relationship. For the first time since the announcement, Hwang Jung Eum spoke more personally about her breakup with her boyfriend of 9 years.
The "Queen of Melodrama" was surprisingly calm as she did the interview in which she revealed, "It's been over two months since we officially broke up."
The breakup news was revealed by Hwang Jung Eum's and Kim Yong Joon's respective agencies on May 15. According to their agencies, the former couple came to an agreement to end things after Hwang Jung Eum wrapped up her MBC drama series "Kill Me, Heal Me". Like most celebrity couples, it was their hectic individual schedules that slowly brought them apart eventually.
Hwang Jung Eum and Kim Yong Joon first together in 2006, but it was only until they appeared on "We Got Married" in 2009 that the couple went public with their relationship. It was said that they have broken up and then gotten back together several times in their 9-year relationship, but sources say they have made up their might to end things with their recent breakup.
In a past interview, Hwang Jung Eum was even quoted discussing the possibility of marriage for her and Kim Yong Joon. The actress said, "We have this mindset that if ever we decided to get married then we'll do it, but if along the way we break up then we break up. I don't like this thought though, but I still love him." Unfortunately for Hwang Jung Eum and Kim Yong Joon, it seems that the doors of marriage have official closed on their relationship.
